Simon Collection
CassinaDescription
In 2013 Cassina acquired the Simon brand and stepped up its collaboration with founder Dino Gavina, who established the project in 1968 by combining his vision of research and innovation with a deep sensitivity for artistic creativity. The Simon Collection product range embodies the pivotal moments in furniture design, allowing the Meda-based company to expand and work with prominent names such as Marcel Breuer, Kazhuide Takahama and particularly Carlo Scarpa, key figure behind this modern industrial manufacturing venture. The company’s drive for experimentation and innovation, coupled with high-quality materials and techniques, paved the way for a relevant relationship between production and culture, one that two decades later would lead Cassina to embrace the idea of reediting the masterpieces of the collection I Maestri. Some of the highlights of the Simon Collection include the Doge designer table, an authentic architecture, the Bramante cabinet, extending the tradition of lacquering to serial production, and the Les Grand trans-Parents mirror, where Man Ray infuses artistic spirit into an everyday object. All these elements come together to create an admirable cult edition full of incredibly modern and distinctive shapes.
